The Prince and Princess of Wales were booed as they attended a basketball game in the US, following a race row engulfing the future King’s godmother.
The booing had connotations of associating Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton with the widely condemned racist act, despite them having nothing to do with the act itself and condemning it.
However, it tarnished the royal family who is still reeling from the fall out with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who alleged that a senior member of the royal family had express concern about how dark their unborn baby would be(referring to Archie before he was born).
The British public was divided in their interpretation of the question, many considering it to be a natural question of curiosity, and others deeming it racist.
Lady Susan Hussey has resigned from her role in the royal household after behaving in a condescending manner construed to be racist in the manner in which she repeatedly questioned Ngozi Fulani, about where she ‘really came from’ during a Buckingham Palace reception.
Ms Hussey was demeaning in the sustained questioning of Ms Fulani, who was a guest at Buckingham Palace.
The Palace said in a statement that the comments were ‘unacceptable and deeply regrettable’.
Prince William had said it was ‘really disappointing’ to hear about the experiences of a guest at Buckingham Palace.
His spokesperson added: ‘Racism has no place in our society, these comments were unacceptable’ and ‘it’s right that the individual concerned has stepped down.’
The fact Prince William has expressed his disapproval of his godmother’s conduct makes the booing he was subjected to unfair and unnecessary.
Fans booing are believed to have been bearing in mind the perceived racism Meghan Markle suffered in the royal family, which they believe badly reflects of Prince Harry and his wife. The absence of any evidence to support the idea that the Prince and Princess of Wales participated in any perceived racism Meghan Markle may have suffered makes it unfair to tarnish the dignified couple with the same brush.
Other fans in the crowd could be heard loudly cheering ‘USA, USA’ when the Prince and Princess appeared on the screens in the centre above the court.

At the start of the basketball game on Wednesday night the royal couple were seen watching intently as the Celtics raced into an early lead.
The Boston Celtics’ name was inspired by the Original Celtics, a well-known basketball team that had been created by Irish immigrants in New York earlier in the 20th century, before folding in 1930.
After the second quarter with the game tied 47 all William and Kate watched as the Celtics honoured their long-standing tradition of recognising a ‘Hero Among Us’, heralding individuals working to positively impact the community.

The Prince of Wales gave an awkward glance at the big screen while the duo’s faces were shown to the crowd on the big screen – as more “USA!” chants echoed – before both royals grinned and waved.
“They tried showing the royals on the jumbotron with a big announcement and security literally stepped in front of the camera while people booed,” Sports writer Jared Weiss tweeted.
The reaction from disgusted fans comes as Buckingham Palace faces the challenging task of showing they are are not only not racist, but are also against racism.
Lady Susan Hussey, a lady-in-waiting of the late Queen, resigned from her role after she repeatedly asked a British black palace guest where she was “really from”.
Ngozi Fulani repeated questioning over her nationality at a reception on Tuesday was embarassingly bad.
Ms Fulani, who was born in Britain, was at the reception for campaigners against violence towards women hosted by the Queen Consort, Camilla.
She had attended the event on behalf of domestic abuse charity Sistah Space to mark the UN’s 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
Ms Fulani said she was horrified when Lady Susan approached her, moved her hair to see her name badge and asked: “Where do your people come from?”
The employee, and Prince William’s godmother, repeatedly questioned what part of Africa she was from and when she first came to the UK, Ms Fulani claimed.
She said the experience, just 10 minutes after arriving, left her “insulted” with “mixed feelings” about the royal visit.
She told the BBC that the manner of her treatment amounted to abuse.
