Prime minister, Boris Johnson has confirmed that the number of patients in Uk hospitals with the virus has increased exponentially, adding that many were contracting it after they had been admitted for other reasons.
Hospitalization rates associated to the omicron variant have been exaggerated over the months in the British press when a high percentage of those numbers had actually been to hospital for other reasons and added to the statistic of those hospitalized by the virus when they tested positive for Covid or caught the virus in hospitals.
Downing Street for the first time made reference to this important fact , quoting the figure of contaminated patients to be around 30 per cent, though other sources putting those statistics at 45%. Many of those falling under that category had been added to the list of those who had been hospitalized .
The exaggerated rate of hospitalizations related to Covid-19 had been presented by Sage scientists as one of the basis to pursue a national lockdown and more restrictions in the Uk, but Mr. Johnson this time dismissed the deceptive information as a sound basis for destabilizing the UK economy any further.
Over 20 hospital trusts have declared critical incidents, with thousands of staff having been forced to isolate after coming into contact with patients with the virus.
On Monday, the prime minister , Mr Johnson warned that NHS staff must be “properly protected” against Covid, especially where it can be proven that it is circulating widely in hospitals.
“I mentioned the 18,000 people with Covid currently in hospital,” the Prime Minister said at a vaccination centre in his Uxbridge constituency. “As you know, as everybody knows, that’s massively up. And the numbers are increasing. And what people also need to know is that a larger, sizeable percentage of those 18,000 have contracted Covid in hospital.
“Perhaps 30 per cent or more are nosocomial infection, so-called iatrogenic. They come in – you’re getting infected in hospital. Now to me that is just not acceptable. You shouldn’t go into hospital and then contract Covid. So it’s very important that our NHS staff should be properly protected, should be properly vaccinated, and I certainly encourage that.”
Data for the week ending Dec 28 show that, in some regions, as many as two thirds of people in hospital with Covid were admitted for another reason. They include people who did not have the virus when they were admitted but caught it during their treatment.
The proportion is highest in the South East and the East of England and lowest in the South West, where just two per cent of patients were admitted for another reason.
The official admission from all quarters exposes all sections of the British media that highlighted increasing hospitalizations last month without proper investigations whilst pushing for a higher restrictions in the Uk, basing their news on false information.
Ongoing research shows that large numbers of the British public have been turned off by the British media because of the perceived level of fear mongering in pandemic times, believed to be motivated by clickbait , and in many cases, the interest in a national lockdown to suit some of their individual wishes, and in other cases, genuine fear by members of the media themselves due to news they read from other news sources which they are unprepared to investigate.
