President Donald Trump today raised the prospects of being impeached, as he openly called on China and Ukraine to investigate Hunter Biden
In the midst of an impeachment inquiry, President Donald Trump’s decision to openly do the very thing he is being investigated for is perplexing. The controversial president called on China and Ukraine to do what many see as an interference in the 2020 election as he prepared to leave for a speech in Florida.
This could be the president’s way of saying Bin Hunter has committed wrongdoings worthy of investigation, and that his conviction of this on principle matters more than the impeachment inquiry.
“I would think that if they were honest about it, they’d start a major investigation into the Bidens.
The context in which the U.S president uses the word scrutiny here is double edged. It could be perceived as a political or business threat of some nature to China, depending on the political relationship between China and the United States.
Trump would have been under no illusions that the kind of request he openly made lies at the heart of an inquiry seeking his impeachment. He seems to be confident nothing will come of it.
The method to this madness may be hidden in secret knowledge he has that attempts to impeach him will not succeed, but that’s a risky assumption no matter the grounds he has for that belief.
Calls for Trump’s impeachment may even get louder now, but if the president has the nine lives of a cat he will survive any attack against him even when valid. It sounds like a dangerous gamble by the president, but he must have thought about it before making the public demand on camera.
SPONTANEOUS
Trump’s critics say he doesn’t think much and is about as spontaneous as a child; his story is one if rarest ever for a president and the international theatre in which America’s most unorthodox president acts out his deepest wishes is one that will never be short of a wide audience. If his path doesn’t end in disaster, it will be most extraordinary and make him the most unique president ever.
