UK police are investigating claims that Gabriella Taylor, 18, was forced to withdraw midway through the quarter final of the Junior event, because she was poisoned. Talented Taylor ended up in intensive care after contracting what she believed was a virus.
However, talented Taylor ended up spending four days fighting for her life in hospital after the condition was later diagnosed as leptospirois, a bacterial disease spread by animals. The disease cannot be caused by a random virus, and this had led to the strongly held view she was maliciously poisoned by jealous haters.
A criminal investigation has now launched by Scotland yard, who are deeply suspicious that the allegation may be true.
Police are investigating claims that rising tennis star was deliberately targeted with poison whilst at Wimbledon.
Scotland Yard said police in the London borough of Merton, which covers Wimbledon, are investigating an allegation of poisoning with the ‘intent to endanger life’ or cause grievous bodily harm.
Rumors have been circulating that she could have been infected by the coach of a rival player, or a betting syndicate made up of organised criminals. The poisoning of sports stars is not a common occurrence, but this story is one that should get all sportsmen vigilant when eating or drinking anywhere public, including party’s or meetings.
CONTAMINATION
Expressing suspicion of contamination, Miss Taylor’s mother Milena suggested she must have seen contaminated. She said her daughter had been staying ‘in a completely healthy environment’ when she fell ill.
‘The bacteria, the infection team found is so rare in Britain that we feel this could not have been an accident,’ she told the Daily Telegraph:
‘Her bags with her drinks in were often left unattended in the players’ lounge and someone could have taken the opportunity to contaminate her drink.’
Insisting that her daughter had not been anywhere where she could contract the bacteria, she added:
‘It was very scary for everyone because she was in quite a severe way and if you read about it, there are mortality cases,’ she added.
‘We spoke to police after our last visit to intensive care when the consultant actually revealed what they had found.
‘We said “we’re going to proceed and are going to go to the police straight away” and he said it was our prerogative, so we can. After that we went straight to the police.’
She added that her daughter was ‘full of confidence’ before the competition and was ‘looking forward to getting the title‘.
‘The next thing she is lying in intensive care close to death,’ she added.
