A police chief will escape an IPCC investigation on allegations of hacking and a serious cover up, the eye of media has learned.
Commander Chris Greeney was being investigated by the IPCC after a whistle blower in he unit – David Williams, sort to expose Greeney for colluding with Indian hackers to hack several emails of journalists and politicians .
Greeney also destroyed files the Secret Scotland Yard unit compiled on the political activities of Jenny Jones in 2014. Commander Greeny is the police national co- ordinator for economic crime working for the City of London police, and is also a spokesperson for the police on issues relating to identity fraud and cyber crime.
The City London police say they were only aware of the IPCC investigation last month, after the police chief notified them of his resignation plans . They consulted the IPCC after seeking legal advice, before concluding it would be wrong to prevent him from retiring.
Retirement or not, Greeney should answer the charges he is being investigated about. Hacking the emails of journalists and politicians is a serious charge, Greeney must not escape being held to account on this. The eye of media.com will not allow this one to slip away lightly.
A whole commander in chief is trying to escape disciplinary action for his conduct. Commander Chris Greeney retires this Friday after 30 years with the police force. It will be most scandalous if he is allowed to completely escape the investigation of the IPCC.
