Police have arrested a 36-year-old man they suspect of being the gunman who shot and killed the nine-year-old Liverpool girl Oliviman in the Dovecot area of Liverpool. Olivia Pratt-Korbel. Olivia was shot on Monday night by a masked gunman who burst into her family home while chasing another
The men who were both complete strangers to the family burst into the property of the victim during a chase in which the gun man fired shots recklessly, killing the young child in the process.
Ms Korbel was shot in the wrist as she tried to shut the door. She has now been released from hospital.
Nee, from Dovecot, was shot in the upper body and taken to hospital in a black Audi by a third man.
He is to be recalled to prison for allegedly breaching the terms of his licence conditions. The convicted drug dealer was jailed for three years and nine months in 2018 for burglary.
He was also previously convicted of two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving without insurance and driving while disqualified.
Olivia was described by her family as a “unique, chatty, nosey little girl who broke the mould when she was born”.
In a statement, they said Olivia “lived [life] to the most she could, and would blow people away with her wit and kindness.
“We as a family are heartbroken and have lost a huge part of our life.”
A police statement said: “A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel.
“The man, who is from the Huyton area, was also arrested on two counts of attempted murder.
“The arrest came after an operation involving armed officers in the Merseyside area last night, Thursday 25 August.
“The man is currently in custody where he is being questioned by detectives.”
Serena Kennedy, the chief constable of Merseyside police, had appealed to members of the public to help identify Olivia’s killer.
She described it as “a shocking and appalling attack which will reverberate around our communities”.
Extra officers, including detectives, were brought in from other forces in north-west England to help in the investigation.
