Paul Gascoigne is rumoured to be in the line up of I’m a celebrity get me out of here, after plans for the ex television ace was cut short by injury.
The former football ace has expressed interest in participating in the television show, and media buds with their eyes on the button have been hinted by insiders that television executives are considering the 54 year old, whom they believe would make great television if he joins the team of celebrities planned for 2021.
Some insiders say Gascoigne has a network of media personnel around him from time to time, engaging the highly public interest personality in interviews. His battle with alcohol has been well documented, and Gazza appears to be moving his career towards entertainment.
Observing journalists have pointed out that BoyleSports have slashed Gascoigne’s odd to 7/1 from 33/1 to be part of the camp, putting him among the most likely contenders , with Piers Morgan, former tv audience puller, Piers Morgan at 3/1, ex-boxer Ricky Hatton at 7/2 . Gascoigne’s chances of getting in are believed to be high.
Following Gascoigne’s stint at I’m A Celeb Italy being, the well known former England star said the experience was the perfect therapy, after he was forced to ditch coffee and cigarettes while enduring tough challenges in Honduras.
Gascoigne told OK! Magazine, that he would be up for a stint on the Australian version of the show, saying he believes its three-week tenure would be a ‘breeze’.
He is also said to be committed to resuming training in order to keep up his fitness after he heads in for an operation, after he dislocated his shoulder while on the show. His one real problem he has is the discipline of keeping his alcohol under control, long enough.
Controlled time the former Ace spent in a confined space, where he was interacting with others, is believed to have a positive therapeutic effect on him. There are still some concerns about how reliant he becomes on alcohol, away from the cameras. Beyond the rolling cameras, what Paul Gascoigne has to sustain him is most vital.
Only yesterday, Gascoigne was filmed after falling into a lake, presumably drunk.
An onlooker who witnessed the scene said Gazza fell into the margins fallen and a couple of people rushed over to help him. describing the scene as comical. Gazza has made improvements in his mental state and may see celebrity reality programs as a further therapy in helping him win the battle against his demons. Attaining and maintaining the ideal reality of blissful sanity is something those handing Gascoigne believe reality shows can help him achieve.
Gascoigne represented the England national football team from 1988 to 1998, in which he was capped 57 times and scored 10 goals. He was part of the England team that reached fourth place in the 1990 FIFA World Cup, where he famously cried after receiving a yellow card in the semi-final with West Germany.
He also helped the team to the semi-finals of Euro 96, which included scoring a goal against Scotland, described in 2013 as “one of the most iconic goals in the game’s recent history”.
