Paedophiles are mentally ill individuals with a twisted compunction to abuse children.Contrary to expected stereotypes of Paedophiles fitting a particular description, they can appear in all forms. They can be your friend, neighbour, relative, depending on how twisted their minds have become , and what train of events have led to it. Many American researchers have over the years questioned what the disorder of paedophilia really is about, its characteristics, and what type of treatment is necessary to remedy the state of abusers. They inquire about the very nature of paedophilia, seeking to discover whether it is inborn or developed in life.
The American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) defines paedophilia as recurrent sexually arousing fantasies, impulsive desires, or behaviors involving sexual acts with a child and that occur over a period of at least six months. In most cases, the paedophile is at least sixteen years of age and at least five years older than the child. Those who suffer from peadophilia have a compulsion to abuse young children.

Some have suggested extreme measures like castration to disable these crazy people, who no matter the deformity of their mind, are the scum of the earth and shouldn’t be here.

. Peadophiles can be characterised into either exclusive or non-exclusive. Exclusive paedophiles are only drawn towards children. They have no interest in adults be cause of their grotesque way of thinking. Non-exclusive paedophiles are attracted to both adults and children. According to Schiffer, some male paedophiles are are attracted to male children or both male and female children
Paedophiles usually suffer from cognitive distortions to that of males, and entertain irrational thoughts of extreme perversion in which they maintain an intense fantasy that connects them perversely with the innocence of childhood. They usually suffer from low self esteem, or have suffered from it at one point, and in extreme cases have been abused themselves as a child, and sometimes rejected too. It doesn’t exculpate them from the fault of their perversion, but sometimes reveals a catalogue of factors that contributed to the
Females who exhibit pedophilia tend to suffer from psychiatric disorders or substance abuse problems. Also, there is a higher correlation between sexual abuses as a child with females compared to males.
