Viewers were left feeling emotional last night after Olly Murs broke down over tragic Caroline Flack who committed suicide on February 15. The heart breaking moment followed knockout stages of popular singing competition The Voice UK which continued last night as 12 contestants battled it out in the hope of making it to the live semi-final.
Judges Meghan Trainor, Tom Jones, and Olly Murs watched in admiration as their team performed on stage. William’s three remaining contestants were Lucy Calcine, Doug Sure and Johannes Pietsche, and the talented trio competed impressively for a place in the next stage of the competition, captivating the imagination of the audience in the process.
Doug sang last in a brilliant and moving performance of Don’t Watch Me Cry by Jorja Smith. Olly Murs became very emotional and broke down in tears as he became nostalgic and remembered his dear friend, Caroline Flack flooding back. Olly’s voice disintegrated as he said: “That was just… I’m speechless.
“I lost a good friend recently…” before losing the ability to speak as he burst into tears. Murs and Caroline had been friends for years, as the pair hosted The X Factor and spin-off show The Xtra Factor together. The singer was away when Flack killed herself and like in many situations like that would have felt he wasn’t there to help her. Thoughts like that always hunt the mind even when it is clear that it was no fault of an individual. Murs said about a week after her death that he was numb when he discovered the news in the early hours of the morning after 2 a.m and has ever since struggled with waves of emotions.

Olly Murs and Caroline Flack had a natural chemistry when they worked together between 2011 and 2012 but both denied speculations that they were romantically linked.
