AUSTERITY

The Million Mask March was organised by a group called ‘Anonymous’ – A loosely international structure with a decentralized command structure based on ideas , not directives. The group are protesting austerity measures and perceived inequalities caused by government policy. As fire works and flares went off, bottles were thrown over the barriers and set alight in Queen Anne’s Gate, central London. A crowd of people gathered in front of Buckingham palace to make their protest known, whilst many looked frightened by the disorder unfolding before their very eyes. Protests are legal but it becomes farcical and counterproductive when those protesting become violent, as this shows them to be irresponsible. Still, it highlights the austerity issues as the original cause of everything that spiralled into violence, even though perpetrators are always generally responsible for any damaged caused from their actions. Protests should never end in this type of dangerous clash between b protesters and police, but far too often this is the case when either the protesters or the police fail to refrain from overreacting. The police are known for going too far during events like this, though it must be said that no protest is short of a handful of idiots! They will be plenty, and many will be high on drugs or drink, or even both. So the police always have their work cut, though it is now time for the government to address this issues as thoroughly and comprehensively as possible.
