North London MA Writing Students Want Dissertation Extension Because Of Heat

By Sheila Mckenzie-

North London MA students are appealing for more time to complete their 10,000 words dissertation, citing distraction from the heat

Students at the reputable  North London  University  for creative writing were  directed to choose  one of four distinct pathways: Fiction, Literary Non-Fiction,* Poetry or Poetic Practice, working in small groups at the highly rated North London University are compelled tog take modules in Supplementary Discourses and Reading as a Writer. You will submit critical and creative coursework, and will undertake a final practical project and critical dissertation.

The creative writing course which teaches writers how to structure and edit their prose to a publishable standard while also developing an expert sense of how best to draw on the personal, the actual and the imagination,  has assigned the group of students with a number of worded tasks throughout the year. Creative writing has several  rules and standards of expectations, aimed at developing analytical and editorial skills, and  sharpen standards of self-criticism.

Students are also taught to  explore the broad range of possibilities that literary non-fiction has to offer from memoir to manifesto, from the essay to the hybrid form.

Most students that sign up for the course hope to eventually become authours of books or films, and are therefore told to construct fictional stories throughout the year, with clear narratives where they can discover their voice. Students are then told to read out their work which is scrutinised by their class.

With the summer holidays in motion and the sun really hot,  some of the writing students are asking for an extension to their September deadline to hand in their dissertation. They can’t give their name because the University contractually forbids them to talk to the media, but these are story tellers who aspire to be best sellers.

They are assigned prescribed words for fiction stories which they initially discuss with the class, thenn use any constructive criticisms to build on their writing strengths. They have all written several short stories  and have just over a month to have their work in, but are calling for an  extension. One student told The Eye Of Media.Com: ” with hot weather like this, people want to just relax and enjoy the weather. It is just to hot to study. Since more hot days are predicted, some of us think it is only fair we are given some extra time to complete our dissertation, so we can get it to a good standard”.

They will be lucky to get any extra time, and know they just have to knuckle down through the heat.
