China Accused Of Being Behind Cyber Attack On Ministry Of Defence

 By Ben Kerrigan-

China has been accused of being behind a massive cyber-attack on Ministry of Defence systems in the UK.

The MoD has been working at pace to ascertain the scale of the leak and damage done since it discovered the payroll system – run by an outside contractor – had been hacked, exposing names, bank details and in some cases addresses of serving personnel.

Sky News today revealed that the Chinese state, possibly working through a third party is believed by the UK government to be responsible.

Names and bank systems on a pay roll system with current personnel were reportedly exposed, and Mps are to be briefed about the incident today.

Yet, the government is not naming China publicly

A group of seven French lawmakers targeted by cyberattacks attributed to Chinese hackers called for a judicial investigation by the authorities as Chinese leader spent the day in Paris, as Chinese president, Xing Jinping met French president Emmanuel Macron in France

The law makers are pushing for France to formally attribute the attack to APT31 – the same company sanctioned by Britain in March, but it is not yet known whether the investigation requested will occur, or even so, how it will pan out.
