39-year-old Philip Sturdy ,previously from Bowthorpe in Norwich, gave three of his victims drink or food laced with the sedative Ketamine and other drugs after enticing them to his home. Before sexually assaulting them, he put them in a deep sleep or became unconscious so he could then go on to abuse them, Norwich Crown Court heard.

Drugging And Sexual Assault

Examination of the victim’s hair sample showed traces of Ketamine and other tranquilizing drugs administered by Sturdy. They evidence Sturdy’s dragging on the young girls. The former police officer knew he needed to drug the girls in order to sexually assault them

Sexual Assault

The indecent images of the victims were found on Sturdy’s phone and featured girls aged from 8 to 12 years old and an indecent image of a teenage male. They featured the victims asleep with their clothing pulled down or removed, whilst they were unconscious.
Some of the victims were unaware they had been filmed by Sturdy until police traced them and informed the girls. Sturdy is a disgrace to the police, and Norfolk police must be applauded for bringing this vile man to justice. He will never work with the police again.

Jailed

Jailing him, Judge Stephen Holt said that Sturdy posed a danger to children and said: “You put substances into their food or drink which rendered them in due course unconscious.”
He said the statements from the victim’s parents showed the harm and real pain he had caused.
“Some of these children are still not aware of what you subjected them to.”
Sturdy’s lawyer,Michael Clare, said that by pleading guilty he had spared the victims coming to court.
“He does not want me to make excuses. He accepts full responsibility.”
The case draws attention to the fact that there are always going to be bent and depraved officers in the police force, The positive thing is that there are always good officers to bring the bad apples among them to justice.
