Nigel Farage will be holding a rally in Nottingham city centre this weekend after receiving an EU poll boost that sets him ahead of both the Tories and The Labour Party. The rally will take place at the Albert Hall conference centre on Saturday, April 20.
It follows a recent YouGov poll revealing a surprising lead by Farage’s recently formed Brexit party with 27 of the vote, compared to Labour’s 22%, while the Tories are behind on just 5%. The former Ukip chief officially launched the party last week, revealing candidates like former Tory candidate Annunziata Rees-Mogg – sister of arch-Brexiteer MP Jacob Rees-Mogg
Mr Farage became the leader of the Brexit Party on March 22, after resigning from politics after he contributed to achieving the victory for Brexitiers during the 2016 referendum. Farage’s return to politics is to ensure the implementation of Brexit, given the political struggles it has faced.
His appointment followed former leader of the party Catherine Blaiklock’s resignation, after she was accused of making racists statements online. Farage’s aim is to get residents in the city behind his party to”join the Brexiteer fightback”. The lead in the EU poll for his new party is a very worrying sign for both the Tory and the Labour party, and would be very embarrassing for them if Farage were to emerge the winner.
Farage is known for his bold , nationalistic and direct position on Brexit and matters that call for the British people to be prioritized in all affairs. He co-chairs the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (formerly “Europe of Freedom and Democracy”) group. He is also a long time prominent Eurosceptic in the UK.
