Nigel Benn’s Brother: Tyson Fury Is Running Scared Of Tony Bellew

By Gabriel Princewill-

Tyson Fury is running scared of Bellew, according to Danny Benn- brother of former world champion,  Nigel Benn’s . Benn, a former boxer before his amateur career was cut short after a gang attack, has long expressed a desire to have a voice in boxing, and was once pencilled to join  The Eye Of Media.Com’s ambitious team, after being introduced by a friend last year.

Benn watched Fury’s uninspiring win against Sefer Seferi, and was critical of Fury’s choice of opponent. However, Danny Benn, who is very vocal, believes Fury is acting scared of Bellew by outrightly avoiding Bellew, whilst calling out Deontey Wilder, when he knows a fight with the WBC champion will not materialise anytime soon.  57 year old Benn- a former successful amateur boxer and doorman, was reacting to Fury’s latest comment to fight Bellew in a street fight instead of a boxing ring.

” I think Fury is just talking rubbish saying he  wants to fight Bellew in the streets. That’s very unprofessional and makes him look scared of Bellew. I mean, Fury has been out of the ring for two years, but whose fault is that? When Klitschko fought Anthony Joshua, he was out of the ring for about the same period of time and he looked in great shape, and put on one hell of a show. In fact, Wladimir Klitschko came close to stopping Joshua, so I don’t see what excuse Fury has got. He can’t be talking big then running away from Tony Bellew. Now, he is calling out Deontey Wilder, when he knows a fight with Wilder can’t happen soon. Wilder is in talks with Joshua’s team, so how can he fight Fury? Fury has done well to loose almost 7 stonnes, he should be praised for that. The truth must still be said, that he still has a lot more work to do with his weight and condition. He is nearly 20 stonne, and needs to shed a lot more weight off before he can even be mentioning Deontey Wilder’s name. Wilder will easily knock him out right now, Fury a’int fooling nobody”.

Fury’s recent attack against Wilder came after the ultra confident American who holds the prestigious WBC belt, claimed he could beat a prime Mike Tyson. Fury was quick to point out that Tyson was from a different era from Wilder, but then decided to highlight that another Tyson exists in the current era .

”Fury must stop all the silly mind games, Benn asserted. Who is he kidding? He just fought an unknown quantity in Sefer Seferi, is avoiding Tony Bellew, now he is calling out Wilder, who is still locked in talks with Anthony Joshua’s team. He needs to check himself out boy.

”Seferi was a ridiculous opponent for Fury, I mean there was almost a foot in height difference. Seferi had no chance, but this was Fury’s first fight back, and its all about money at the end of the day. The first fight is not that important, but after Tyson Fury tried to ridicule Tony Bellew for being too light to fight him, it makes him look silly fighting the guy he fought.  I mean, Bellew is there running up his mouth about him saying he will knock him out, but we are not hearing anything from Fury, who is known to talk a lot. What does that say? It tells me he may be running scared”.

”Don’t get me wrong, Fury left the sport a world champion, so I am not saying he is scared of Bellew as an opponent, but he and his team seem to be scared of the risk Bellew poses. Considering Bellew beat David Haye twice, one starts to think that Fury and his people might just think Bellew is a risk they don’t want to take now.Fear is fear, whether it is of an opponent or the risk of loosing to the opponent. Fury is running scared of Bellew in my eyes, as simple as that.

”When Frank Warren was asked when he will fight people like Bellew, Frank said by the end of the year, but why not next?  If you gonna talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk, and right now Fury is not walking the walk. A 6ft 9 inch lump like him should not be avoiding Bellew. I heard how Fury said he wants to fight a big guy next to prepare him for Joshua, and that’s really what boxing fans want to hear. The question is which big guy, and is that a sign  he thinks Bellew is too dangerous for him as an opponent in August”?

HEIGHT

At 6ft 4 inches, Bellew’s height would be much closer to Fury than Seferi was at 5ft 11 inches. It will still be  very unlikely for Bellew  to make up for the inevitable three plus stonne difference between himself and Fury, even if the former world heavyweight champion were to loose more weight and come in fit at 18 stonnes. It would provide much entertainment, but Fury should be too much for Bellew. Let’s not forget that the mouthy gypsy man is very mobile and agile for a big man, and would pose enormous problems  for Bellew with his exceeding height, movement, and strength

” You never can tell, Benn told The Eye Of Media.Com, all it takes is one solid punch, and you must have heard Bellew remind us all how Steve Cunningham put Fury down, and Cunnungham wasn’t much heavier than Bellew at the time.  Bellew has proved he can pack that punch sometimes.  After all, he stopped David Haye twice, when nobody gave him a chance”.

The jury is still out as to whether Bellew’s repeated victory over Haye was evidence of Bellew’s class, or a sign Haye had declined in class. Most experts doubt Bellew would have stopped a prime David Haye 10 years ago. ”That’s all fantasy talk, Danny Benn asserts in his typical brash and smooth english.  It’s pointless fantasising on who would have won if Bellew and Haye met in their prime. They met in May 2018, and also in 2017, Haye knew what he was up against, and was talking very confidently of a mismatch.

”So he knew the deal and lost both times, period! Bellew knocked him out clean, like he has knocked several cruiser weights before he became world champion. Give the man credit, he has done it, and Fury looks like he is running scared. If he isn’t running scared, he should get into shape, and fight Bellew, instead of going with some other over matched opponent probably lined up next. Bellew says he can knock Fury out quicker than he knocked Haye out, Fury should take him on at no more than 18 stonnes and prove him wrong. Calling out Deontey Wilder in that awful shape of his, though an improved shape, makes him appear like a phoney”.

BIG MOUTH

”If Fury is as big as his mouth is, he should have no problem fighting Bellew next., as a warm up fight which will definitely sell well. If he wants to fight someone big in size, he can go for David Price, or someone like Scott Gammer, who Joshua knocked out in one round. I tell you, for a man that beat Klitschko and talks a lot, people don’t want to see him fight another outright bum. We know he needs to shake off some rust, but this is a man who was claiming he could take Joshua on his first fight back with one hand behind his back. Fury has got to start living up to his word and not feed the public bull. People will see through that and be put off him. At the moment, Fury still has a big name in boxing after beating Klitschko, but pulling fake stunts will make his name go down fast.
