Camelot says it has seen some impact on National Lottery retail sales – in-store sales typically make up around 70% of our total sales – as a result of the ongoing disruption caused by COVID-19. As part of our measures to support National Lottery retailers and in line with government guidance, player have been actively encourage to only buy tickets in retail if they’re already in-store doing an essential shop – and to play online instead.

A spokesperson for Camelot told The Eye Of Media.Com: ”the deadline expired at midnight yesterday and the money will no go to good causes”.

Camelot says it has seen a change in the way some people are playing The National Lottery during this period.

”Due to the fact that we’ve been encouraging people to play and check their tickets online and on the National Lottery app, we’ve seen a significant increase in people downloading our app and traffic to our online channels.

”However, despite the recent disruption to retail sales, as the end of the 2019/20 financial year has recently drawn to a close, we can confirm that we have achieved record annual National Lottery sales – our previous highest sales were £7.5 billion to put that into context. This will mean a significant increase for Good Causes compared with last year – which is all the more important during this difficult time. We’ll formally announce the detailed sales figures for 2019/20 in the next month to six weeks.
