Piran Ditta Khan, the orchestrator of a notorious armed robbery that claimed the life of Police Constable Sharon Beshenivsky, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
After nearly two decades of evading justice, Khan, now 75, faced the consequences of his actions at Leeds Crown Court.
PC Beshenivsky, a dedicated officer responding to reports of an armed robbery, tragically lost her life on November 18, 2005, in Bradford.

This complicity led to his conviction for murder, with the judge delivering a minimum sentence of 40 years, acknowledging the irreparable loss caused by Khan’s actions.
During the trial, heart-wrenching accounts surfaced, notably from PC Beshenivsky’s daughter, Lydia, who described the void left by her mother’s absence.
She, alongside her family, expressed the profound impact of Khan’s actions, which transformed what should have been a joyful occasion—a birthday celebration—into a day marred by tragedy and loss.

In a poignant reflection, Assistant Chief Constable Patrick Twiggs vowed to honor PC Beshenivsky’s memory, reaffirming West Yorkshire Police’s commitment to never forget her sacrifice.
