MPs have just over a week to agree a deal for leaving the EU, and will be called to Parliament for a special Saturday sitting to discuss Brexit. Parliament is to meet again on 19 October after a crucial EU summit where it will finally be realised whether they can agree a deal before the scheduled deadline of 31 October.
If as expected, a deal is not reached, a letter to the EU seeking an extension will be necessary. Downing Street and interested parties in Northern Ireland are desperate to see a deal achieved for the Uk’s exit from the European Union.Uk prime minister, Boris Johnson, has accused the EU of being difficult by refusing to agree a deal, a charge they deny.
EU chiefs say the deal presented by Downing Street is unworkable and needs a fundamental change before it can work. The sticky issue surrounds boarder controls in Northern Ireland.
