The funeral of Joe Cox, who was stabbed to death outside Birstall library, is taking place today, Friday. The former MP for Hartley and Spen was killed on June 16, this year as she came out of Birstall library.
In a murder that shocked the nation, Joe Cox was praised as a selfless woman who devoted all she had into her job. And today, children and we’ll wishers lined the streets of Leeds to honor the honorable former Mp.
The poor woman had only been a member of Parliament for a year and had barely scratched the surface of her potential when she executed in broad daylight.
A private funeral service for family members of the former MP, and a function for invited guests is scheduled took place after the funeral cortege slowed in Heckmondwike and Bartley to allow members of the public pay their last respects.
Children from the choir at Noristhorpe primary school carried flowers to pay their respects to a wonderful woman who had so much more to give. Cox had visited the school before she died and even written to them after her visit.
A Remain supporter, Joe Cox was also committed to helping refugees and had complained of aggression towards politician women before her life was cruelly snuffed away by a fanatic brute who shouted “Britain first” before wickedly stabbing, and shooting her in the loved former MP.
Today, her widow tweeted a message that read :”Joe would ask us not 2 fight hate with hate, but draw together 2 drain the swamp that extremism brings. Thinking of all victims of hatred today”
Cox family have asked the media to respect their privacy on this grieving day as they lay her to rest.
