The mother of a man jailed since 2016 over an intelligence report has complained that she is feeling distressed and suicidal over his continued imprisonment has revealed her batthe with depression and suicide.
Susan Brown from Cambridgeshire says her ordeal has now become impossible to bear, adding that she suffers continuous panic attacks, and feels her world is crumbling before her for no just course.
Having your son in jail is a nightmare for any mother even when they are guilty of an offence, but when you know without doubt that it is a miscarriage of justice, it is hundred times worse.
‘I feel like I am losing the fight to stay alive. I just can’t take any of this anymore. To have my son in prison unjustly is so unfair, I just can’t believe this country claims to have any justice. What kind of country provides no evidence of keeping someone in prison, and points to intelligence as their explanation. That’s not intelligence, it is stupidity and cruelty.
‘This is injustice at the highest level, we have tried everything, the parole board has just ignored us flatly and refused to talk to us. They have refused to justify their actions, they have simply treated us like animals. Every night I fear the possibility I will hear that my son has been killed in prison and that it is being covered up. I have awful nightmares that have seriously compromised by mental health over the past 2 years.
‘My son has been victimized many times by the authorities in prison because Michael Wood worked in the same prison as a prison officer.
‘Now the probation services is joining forces with the police to try and take my husband into solitary confinement, just because they know we plan to prosecute the police. We put in a complaint to the Ombudsman complaining about the probation service, then a month later a new bunch of probation officers recall him to prison, and backdate the recall to December 15. Why wasn’t he told of his recall when he attended his probation meeting on December 21? Why has a new probation team recalled him to prison while an Ombudsman investigation is going on and we notified them of a legal suit?
‘These probation officers are acting like dictators who are not accountable to the law, and taking advantage of my husband’s criminal past to cripple his finances, because they know he is the breadwinner of the family.
Susan’s son was originally jailed in 2005 for wounding with intent. He was released from prison in 2013. Nine months later, he was recalled in 2014 after being attacked by a group of boys outside the railway pub in Hyde in Manchester. He was ailed for 6 months over the breach.
On that occasion Aaron’s recall was because he breached his licensing conditions due to the prohibition placed on him visiting any pub, despite being the victim of a horrifying attack.
Barely a year had passed when Aaron was arrested again in 2016, after a property where he was with a friend was raided by police. Cops found cannabis at the property, but Aaron attempted to run from police, but was caught and arrested. He was eventually charged with cannabis, overlooking the fact that his acquaintance, in whose property the pair had been at the time of the raid, admitted responsibility for the drugs in question.
The drugs charge was eventually dropped by police because of lack of evidence, but Aaron was instead charged with obstructing police when he tried to run away. He remained in jail until 2018,when he was told by cops that they had received intelligence that he posed a danger to the mother of his child, Jessica Myles.
Myles’s parents and then boyfriend, Michael Wood were given Osman warnings, to signify their lives being in danger as a result of an alleged threat posed by Aaron Brown. Both of Michael Woods parents were also given an Osman warning. No evidence was provided to support the said threat, but Mr.Brown has been kept in prison since then. The Brown family say he has never met Michael Wood before in his life and would not pose any threat to him.
An investigation later revealed that the sister of Michael Wood, by the name of Joanne Wood, is a serving police officer at the Greater Manchester Police. This discovery gave a sinister twist to the whole process, raising suspicion of corruption. One potential interpretation made by analysts evaluating the case behind the scene is that Joanne Wood was alarmed by the Osman warning, and may have taken swift action to prevent what she perceived to be a threat to her life.
However, the Brown family insist that Aaron has never met Michael, and that there is no way he would have threatened his life. The only logical reason Aaron could have been perceived to pose a threat to Mr.Wood is because the prison officer was dating the mother of his child whilst he was in prison.
Aaron Brown’s family has assured this publication that he was not aware of their relationship and could not possibly have threatened his life from prison. Besides, no evidence has until this day bene presented to support the allegation. All efforts to inquire the grounds of his arrest from the probation services has been ignored, leading the family to make an official complaint to the national probation Ombudsman.

An official complaint was made to their Mp, Stephen Barclay, who ironically was recently appointed as Chief Of Staff of Boris Johnson’s Downing Street team, as part of a no 10 shake up promised by the prime minister to improve the efficiency of the government’s operation.
Barclay has written to the Ministry Of Justice to demand an explanation of the suspicious abuse of power being exercised by the new probation team who have suddenly tried to recall him to prison. They have 30 days to respond, but the emergency case needs to be fast tracked after police paid two visits to the property of the Brown’s this week, seeking him for arrest.
Barclay has important work to do in Downing Street, but questions about how he will cope with adding the work of an Mp with his new post could face an immediate test as he tries to hold what seems to be a stubborn probation service under the Ministry Of Justice to account. to account
Barclay is expected to have an extra team to assist his extra responsibilities, it is yet to be seen how he will joggle more than one post at once.
Susan added: ‘They know what they are doing, they are trying to prevent us from prosecution, but we have already put in a prosecution against Manchester Police, and are waiting for the courts to fix a date for the case’.
The Ministry Of Justice and the probation service have been contacted more than once for comment, but have so far not responded.
