A Mo Farah look alike fugitive has finally been caught after he taunted police on social media, ridiculing them shutting one of their police stations.
53 year old Gladys Francis was wanted for domestic violence offences, but was on the run whilst mocking police who had a mugshot of him appealing for his capture. Francis had responded to a facebook comment about a resemblance between him and legendary athlete Mo Farah, by saying ”I can run like him too”. Cops eventually caught up with him this morning, Monday after he allegedly became abusive towards McDonald’s staff in Birmingham City Centre.
He was arrested on suspicion of causing harassment, alarm and distress and possession of a knife. One would have thought Francis would keep a low profile, knowing he was wanted and that his picture had been circulated to section of the press. Instead, he was true to type, and walked straight into the hands of officers by acting inappropriately in an abusive fashion. His capture shows the foolishness of many criminals who cannot stay out of trouble even at the most crucial of times when they are trying to evade capture. Being abusive to staff in public is not something any decent citizen should engage in, but the stupidity of such act is worsened when the abuser is on the run from police for a crime.
Francis has now added to his offences, and will likely face a long prison sentence for his offences. Once a court hearing is set, the full scale of his offences will be laid bare, shaming him openly for a foolish lifestyle he should have long outgrown at his age. The thought that men of his age can be so criminally minded and dangerous shows just how many younger individuals who are parents exist that set poor examples for children.
A statement from Birmingham Police read: “Wanted man Gladstone Francis has been arrested on suspicion of causing harassment, alarm and distress and possession of a knife after an incident where he allegedly became abusive towards McDonalds staff in Birmingham city centre this morning (Monday 28 January).
“Two weeks ago, we appealed for information to help trace the 53-year-old from #Stirchley in connection with a domestic incident last year.”He remains in police custody this afternoon.
