Mental Mevlut Mert Altintas, who shot the Russian ambassador must have been out of his mind to do so publicly.
The 22 year old ‘s decision to publicly kill Andrei Karlov as he gave a speech on Monday, was terrible and horrifying.
Mr.Karlov was attending an embassy sponsored photo exhibition in Ankra called ”Russia as seen by Turks” when the murder took place. It is currently being probed whether the murdering copper.who was eventually shot dead himself, had any terrorist links to any group. None has so far been found and it would appear he may have been acting alone.
Altintas screamed ”don’t forget Allepo, don’t forget Syria”, as he fired deadly shots from behind the Russian ambassador. His killing appears to have been in protest to Russian involvement in Allepo and Syria, but his method of protest was stupid and cost him his life. The gun man was dressed smartly in a suit and had shown his police pass when his gun set off alarms at the metal detectors .
What goes through the mind of a gun man performing an execution in public is very difficult to imagine. They know witnesses will identify them to the authorities, and must know there is every chance, armed police may catch up with them and kill them. The conclusion must therefore be that they are ready to die .
Moscow are sending investigators to Turkey to probe any possible links to the murder which has come as bad news to Russians just before Christmas. Karlov is said to has been involved in politics since the 1980’s , and has held a number of highly esteemed positions. The murder is believed to be an attempt to hurt ties with Russia.
