Ghislaine Maxwell, the British Socialite accused of helping evil Epstein commit reproachable crimes, is attempting to block names of “hundreds of people” allegedly linked to her paedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein, according to court papers
Maxwell, 58, was arrested last Thursday on charges she helped lure and groom at least three girls – one as young as 14 – to be sexually abused by Epstein, who was accused of victimising dozens of girls and women over many years. She faces up to 35 years if convicted.
Prosecutors allege that between 1994 and 1997 Ms Maxwell helped Epstein groom girls as young as 14. Ms Maxwell’s defence team had argued that her detention at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, puts her at “serious risk” of contracting coronavirus.
The British socialite is also trying to suppress a 418-page deposition of her own words in testimony she provided at a defamation case with Virginia Giuffre, who claims Prince Andrew slept with her when she was 17 – which he denies
Maxwell’s lawyers argue the documents, which are under seal, could be used to “promote public scandal”.
They also contain summaries of flight logs from Epstein’s private jet dubbed the “Lolita Express”.
Her lawyers argue Ms Maxwell is not Jeffrey Epstein and that she had not been in contact with him for more than a decade before his death.
The youngest child of disgraced publishing tycoon Robert Maxwell, she moved to the United States after her father’s death in 1991 and became a close associate of Epstein. Maxwell has faced persistent allegations of procuring and sexually trafficking underage girls for Epstein and others.
Four women accused of supplying young girls for Epstein, Lesley Groff, Nadia Marcinkova, Sarah Kellen and Adriana Ross, are facing investigation by the FBI.
Kellen has been dubbed Maxwell’s “lieutenant” by victims of the late financier.
One claimed: “When Jeffrey wanted me, you know, Sarah Kellen or Ghislaine would call me into his bedroom.”
Former Maxwell associate Christina Oxenberg claims her pal “wire-tapped” the Lolita Express to use for leverage if she were arrested.
A judge is expected to decide on the matter today.
