Many Americans Fearful Of Second Wave Of Virus Arising From Easing Lockdown Plans

By Aaron Miller-

Many Americans are fearful of a second wave of the coronavirus  after Georgia governor Brian Kemp expressed plans to slowly ease lockdown restrictions, despite the exponential deaths caused by Covid-19. The  Covid-19 death toll in the U.S has currently exceeded 45,000 , with more than 800,000 confirmed infections. Confirmed cases of  the coronavirus rose by 26,558 across Tuesday, the total number of cases in the U.S shooting up to 819,175.

Protests in some parts of America last week were not representative of the overall mood in America, where citizens and residents love life and fun, and cherish it wholeheartedly. A life in lockdown is nobody’s idea of fun, but largely seen as a necessary price to prevent far worse death crises than is presently being witnessed. Protesting for a right to continue life as normal and  substantially  risk the lives of many  millions of  others is viewed as the desire of those who do not understand the reality of the pandemic gripping America and the world today.

The University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME has made projections of  the national death toll to hit 65,976 by August, raising grave concerns for America’s future.  A main fear is that a resurgence could coincide with the flu virus next winter. The U.S has performed an estimated 4 million tests, and have active plans to escalate the numbers to up to 30 million a day.

Dr. Chris Murray, (pictured)the director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington, expressed caution on Tuesday about plans for relaxing social distancing.  Easing social distancing at this stage is a very risky affair.  It could amplify the crisis several times over. It is a great risk for resurgence which will almost definitely take us back to  the exponential rise that was happening before we put in social distancing.”

Plans to open up barbers and hairdressing salons are worrying developments for those concerned because of the risks associated with the spread of the virus. Others are desperate to restart their businesses in order to manage their financial pressures. Albert William, a barber from Georgia Atlanta, told The Eye Of Media.Com:

” this are seriously worrying times. There is the desperate issue of needing to earn a living, but boy, it a’int no good earning money if you can’t enjoy it. I mean , if  America is showing one of the worst death rate in the world, bar China whose statistics nobody believes , then we gotta be worried about opening businesses. I mean I wanna earn money, but I wanna live and have my family live too’.. I think I will open some days and shut on others.

Another American, Thomas Albert said: ”I think it is a bad idea to ease off on restrictions when people are dying like flies in America. It is a pathetic decision to subject Americans to such widespread risk of further deaths. Many people are frightened about this pandemic and want to see mass national testing take place first before putting our lives and those of our families on the line”.

Newyork continues to be the coronavirus epicentre of the U.S, with more than 250,000 confirmed cases and nearly 20,000 deaths. New Jersey has reported more than 81,000 cases and 4,000 deaths. California, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, all have more than 30,000 cases each.
