A 62-year-old man found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court of fraud and providing unqualified immigration advice offers, contradicts the current state of affairs in the the Martin Bashir case.
Contrary to section 1 of the Fraud Act 2006 and section 91 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, Mr Leachman was found guilty for giving advise about immigration immigration without being qualified to do so.
The guilty verdict sounds accurate and legal, but also contradicts the situation of Martin Bashir, who has still not been prosecuted for fraudulently producing bank statements that eventually contributed to Princess Diana conducting an interview with panorama in 1995.
The grounds of the application is the fact the man was not qualified to offer the advice he gave. He was charged £800 which he failed to refund when the application was refused.
Mr Leachman’s offence appears to be far less serious than that of Martin Bashir, who provided fake documents in practically advising Spencer to deliver Princess Diane for a panorama interview in 1995.
We know Mr.Bashir, was paid handsomely for the interview, though we don’t know exactly how much he was paid. We do know he wouldn’t have receive any of that payment without the fraudulent bank statements he produced.
The Metropolitan police has said they are still going through the details of the Dyson report in search of new evidence. Without any new evidence, police may not be keen on charging Mr. Bashir, ignoring the fact, the fraudulent bank statements which must have earned him lots of money, the precise fugues of which we do not have.
Regrets
Piers Morgan has suggested that Princess Diana had no regrets about the interview she gave, suggesting that the bank statements did not influence the interview.
Piers claims that six months after the interview aired, Diana told him that she didn’t regret taking part in the 1995 sit-down interview, in which she spoke about her eating disorder and problems in her marriage.
The former Good Morning Britain host wrote in a column for the Daily Mail on the 30th of May that he had asked the late princess‘ whether she had any regrets of conducting the interview, and he responded :”No,” she replied, emphatically. “I have no regrets. I wanted to do it, to put my side over.
There has been so much rubbish said and written that it was time people knew the truth. But I won’t do it again. Once is enough. I have done what I set out to do.”’
‘”Do you regret doing Panorama?” I asked. ‘”No,” she replied, emphatically. “I have no regrets. I wanted to do it, to put my side over. There has been so much rubbish said and written that it was time people knew the truth. But I won’t do it again. Once is enough. I have done what I set out to do,” he wrote’.
But the late princess would not have been aware that the bank statements that influenced the decision of her brother to secure the interview had been forged. This fact makes Morgan’s revelation irrelevant in the scheme of things.
If Morgan considers criticism against Mr Bashir’s mocking up of bank statements is rubbish, then it is him who is talking rubbish.
Princess Diana was unaware of all the factors that influenced her decision to take part in the interview, and her decision would have been influenced by everything she believed was going on at the time, including those that were false.
The recent Dyson Report found that Mr.Bashir had engaged in ‘deceitful behaviour’, something which the journalist has refuted, claiming he and Diana remained close after the interview aired.
