Leicester’s NHS staff working to tackle to the coronavirus pandemic are thrilled after n emergency appeal helped them raise £75,000 in just two weeks.
The Covid-19 Response Fund was set up by Leicester Hospitals Charity to support staff during the crisis came up trumps in such a short time. It’s aim was to contribute to towards providing resources, refreshments, food deliveries, mental health support and well being items for staff. Beneficiaries include those working at the Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital and the General Hospital. The hospital which has lost a number of lives to the coronavirus can do with all the support it can get.

Charity director Lisa Davies told The Eye Of Media.Com: “All of the staff in our hospitals are facing extreme pressures right now.
“This is the most difficult challenge our hospitals have ever faced.
“We are committed to providing the highest support to the remarkable hospital staff leading the fight on the front line, while also helping vulnerable patients and their families.

“These two weeks since we launched our Covid-19 Response Fund have been easily the busiest we’ve ever experienced here at the charity.
“Every corner of our community is reaching out and we are astounded by the support we are getting.”
The money raised will go to the purchase of extra equipment for staff rooms, provide additional rest areas, nutritional snacks and drinks, hand and body cream for staff. Rebecca Brown, acting chief executive of Leicester’s Hospitals, celebrating the funds said:
