LEGENDARY TAYLOR SWIFT LEADS BILLBOARD TOP 100 ARTIST

American premiere artist,Taylor Swift, leads the Billboard artist 100 (dated June 27) for a record-extending 29th week, maintaining  her top spot as a musical act in the U.S

The Artist 100 is the first weekly survey dedicated to measuring artist activity across Billboard‘s most influential charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, Top Album Sales and the Social 50. The Artist 100 blends data measuring album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.

Swift stays atop the Artist 100, bolstered by a 9 percent gain in overall activity, according to Nielsen Music, while The Weekend rebounds to his best rank, jumping 5-2 (up 34 percent), as his new single “Can’t Feel My Face” debuts at No. 24 on the Hot 100. Maroon 5 holds at No. 3 on the Artist 100.

It has been confirmed by both Swift’s label Big Machine Records and Apple that “1989” will not be accessible for streaming when Apple Music launches later this month. However they have managed to secure the rights to her back catalog

 

Swift has in the past been vocal against music streaming services, claiming such products strip away value by breaking apart albums. Swift has made it abundantly clear that she does not subscribe to the idea of free music, and has gone as far as predicting that artists will someday set album pricing for themselves. She has also bemoaned the treatment of artists by spotify, saying that it doesn’t pay artist fairly.


Last year, the renowned singer took her entire music from Spotify in a powerful statement against the company’s free-to-stream offering. 

 Apple Music’s catalog have also taken further knocks from Indie record labels representing Adele, Radiohead, Jack White and a number of other artists who are unhappy with apple for refusing to pay royalties during its three-month free trial period.  Swift has happily kept her older music on paid prescription services lke Tidal, but made sure her latest album was only available as a CD or paid download, thereby earning her over a million copies of ”1989” in its first week.copies in an opening week than in her previous 12 years

The multiple award Grammy winner gas long been in a position to call the shots, having excelled . She is also currently the only act to have 3 albums sell more than one million copies in the opening release week. Her singles like ”Bad blood”  ”Blank space”, She has won 7 Grammy Awards, 12 Billboard music awards, 8  Academy of Country Music Awards and 1 Brit Award. What a legend!
