A Las Vegas mother claims that her son had his face mask taped on by a substitute teacher after he forgot to wear it while going to get a drink of water.
On Tuesday, the mother, who has insisted on anonymity, was informed by school administrators at Caroline S Reedom Elementary School that her son showed up at the office with a mask taped to his face.
An inquiry by the office staff about the tape on his face, led to knowledge of the malpractice that the boy’s teacher, who was upset that he didn’t pull up his mask after taking a drink of water, had taped it to his face. It was taped all the way up to his forehead.”
The ill treatment her son was being subjected to, would never have come to her attention, had the young child not been called to the office that morning.
The principal of the school, Dr. Caroline Reedom, was alarmed after the child want into the office fully taped, leading to him visiting the classroom where another student who also had his mask taped on his face by the teacher further alarmed him.
She is now under pressure to take decisive action with respect to the complaints.
Caroline S. Reedom Elemtary School told The Eye Of Media.Com that it was ”dealing with the complaint appropriately” , but gave no further details of the steps it would take to address the complaint. Insiders at the school anonymously indicated to this publication that the student had refused to wear their mask as required, and the teacher in question ”simply imposed the requirements on a defiant child”. The teacher’s identity has not been divulged by the school.

It later emerged that the teacher had done this to five other students and had been doing it since the school year started – all of the students thought it was normal, and never told their parents what was happening.
The mother, who has not been identified, has called on the teacher to be investigated and to resign following the alleged incident, which she says she fears may have a ‘long-term effect’ on her nine-year old son.
She claimed her son’s teacher exceeded her authority, by forcefully taping a mask to her son’s face in a humiliating way.
According to her complaint, her son, who is a student at Freedom Elementary School in Mountain’s Edge – had not been asked to put on a face mask by the teacher, but instead was ‘pulled up in front of the classroom, in front of all of the students’ and had the mask taped ‘across the top of his face’.
‘I was furious, furious,’ she told local station Fox5Vegas. ‘I was scared for my son on what kind of long-term effect it is going to have on him socially, the fact that the entire class was laughing.’
In a statement, the Clark County School District said that it was investigating what it described as an ‘isolated incident’, and that the staff member in question was being dealt with ‘through proper channels’.
However, the mother attacked those claims, insisting that the teacher’s actions were not ‘isolated’, alleging that her son told her several other pupils had also had their masks taped to their faces.
In Nevada, school children from Kindergarten through to 12th grade are required to wear a mask while in school or on a school bus.
