Adam Fox from the Labour Party, (pictured)has said that there has to be a zero tolerance to misconduct , adding that his role as police commissioner will be to accountable to the police.
He said: ”My door will be open for contact if they think standards are not high enough. We will ensure the police will be held to the highest standard
The May election will see Fox stepping into the role, bringing with him a wealth of experience in local governance and a commitment to addressing the diverse challenges facing the county.
Adam Fox’s political career includes serving as the Deputy Leader of Colchester City Council and Labour Group Leader. His extensive seven-year tenure as a councilor, spanning from 2016 to 2023, provided him with a deep understanding of local dynamics and governance.
During his time as Deputy Leader, Fox held key responsibilities for the Local Economy and Council Transformation, engaging with local businesses and contributing to the North Essex Economic Board. He also served as a portfolio holder for housing.
”My main aim will be to tackle crime and make people feel safe. We will also seek to have more visible policing in trouble spot. Labour party plans to add more policing.
”I would want a police force that Essex can be proud of and one that one that serves everybody.
”Labour has a lot of work to earn the trust of the public, but we have a mission to restore the trust of the British public and end the failure of the tory party for the past 14 years.
In addition to his political roles, Fox has hands-on experience in managing services focused on combating drug and alcohol addiction, addressing criminal activity, community engagement, and supporting young people and victims of crime.
This diverse background positions him as a well-rounded candidate with a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted challenges associated with law enforcement and community safety.
Expressing his commitment to prioritizing the concerns of Essex communities, Fox outlined his key focus areas for the Police and Crime Commissioner role.
Visible Neighbourhood Policing: Strengthening the presence of law enforcement in local communities.
Implementing strategies to address and reduce antisocial behaviour. Safe Town and City Centres. Ensuring the safety of public spaces for residents and visitors.
Collaborating with partners to address and eliminate gender-based violence.
Following his selection, Adam Fox emphasized his commitment to prioritizing community concerns and working collaboratively with residents, local businesses, community organizations, and faith groups.
Fox stated, “All of us, I’m sure, know someone who has been a victim of a crime. The way we tackle crime and our priorities for safer communities have a huge impact.
”As Essex’s Police and Crime Commissioner, I would put the priorities of our communities first. I won’t rest until we have achieved that,” he said
The announcement sets the stage for a competitive election, with Fox positioning himself as a candidate dedicated to addressing the pressing issues facing Essex and fostering positive change in the realm of policing and community safety.
