Yorkshire Police has shut down three businesses in Kirklees which breached lockdown guidelines, The Eye Of Media.Com has heard.
A snooker hall, a hairdresser/barber and a factory outlet shop were all shit down after it emerged they had been opening up in stark defiance of lockdown rules. Kirklees Council pushed for the closures by getting Yorkshire police to enforce the lockdown.
Kirklees Council which lead a brilliant Community Response aimed at supporting the most vulnerable who are in need of support, old The Eye Of Meida.Com that they are ”fully committed with protecting the interests of those honest people who are self isolating and could be endangered by selfish and reckless individuals”.
The council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Environment, Clr Rob Walker, revealed:
“Hundreds of businesses in the area have received plenty of advice from Kirklees Council in relation to lockdown rules and are all aware of the present situation.
“Unfortunately, there have been three Kirklees businesses who we have had to issue enforcement notices to as they remained open when they should have been closed.
“We have worked with police to address this and they are no longer open.”The council will not hesitate to use their powers to protect residents in Kirklees.”He praised residents for their “really important role” in contacting the council to report anyone operating outside the law.
