Recent reports suggest that the anticipated reunion between Prince Harry and his father, King Charles, during Harry’s visit to London is facing significant hurdles, with insiders hinting at a deeper issue than a mere diary clash.
Contrary to official statements, it appears that the real reason behind the strained meeting is the insistence from King Charles that any face-to-face encounter must also include his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
Sources close to Buckingham Palace have unveiled to journalists that negotiations between Harry’s team and palace aides have hit an impasse over the terms of the proposed meeting.
The upcoming Buckingham Palace Garden Party on May 8 was speculated to provide a suitable setting for the family reunion, coinciding with Harry’s attendance at the Invictus Games 10th Anniversary Service.
However, the insistence that Camila attends such meeting has been the deal breaker.
“There hasn’t been a meeting of minds just yet about whether there will be time to meet on the 8th,” one undisclosed source revealed. “Aides are adamant that if a meeting were to go ahead tomorrow at Buckingham Palace, the Queen will also be present which might prove a bone of contention.”
