Kenyan MP Arrested For Breaching Lockdown Rules In Kenya

A Kenyan Mp has been arrested for breaching lockdown rules, The Eye Of Media.Com can reveal.   As Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe confirmed that the countries cases are nearing the 200 mark with six new cases bringing the tally to 197, Kenyan authorities have taken very strict measures in ensuring compliance with the rules.

Embakasi Central MP Benjamin Gathiru was  arrested in a pub on Saturday evening after breaking the curfew directive. The MP was among others who were arrested at the Royal Tavern Pub in Ruai for flouting the curfew rule. County commander Philip Ndolo confirmed the arrests. Meanwhile, a group of residents from Embakasi’s Nyayo Estate were arrested for attending a birthday party in one of the homes. Panic in African countries where the virus has so far claimed comparatively fewer lives than in Europe is at an all high as they act in fear of the pandemic spreading to levels that will break their limited and underfunded health system.

When lockdowns are announced in Africa, the consequences for breach are always serious.Police fired tear gas at a crowd of Kenyan ferry commuters as the country’s first day of a coronavirus curfew . Officers  have been captured in mobile phone footage whacking people with batons. Churches and other Christian places of worship were closed across the capital Nairobi as most Easter services have moved from in-church to online.

The few churches that held service did so with strict protocols from social distancing to use of face masks and provision of sanitizers. Hundreds of thousands are having to stay at home and by that cancel plans of travelling to celebrate the annual event with families in other counties.
