The pair reportedly announced the news at their gig in Gateshead, where Beck also referenced the trial, saying: ‘What a result!’The gig came a day after Depp won his high-profile defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard.

He said (via the BBC): ‘I met this guy five years ago and we’ve never stopped laughing since.

‘We actually made an album. I don’t know how it happened. It will be out in July.’

The pair released a cover of John Lennon’s Isolation in 2020. They also took to the stage to cover Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, The Everly Brothers’ Let It Be Me, Jimi Hendrix’s Little Wing and Killing Joke’s The Death and Resurrection Show.

Depp, 58, first joined Beck, 77, on stage in Sheffield, when he amused fans by turning up in the UK while waiting the verdict of his defamation trial against Heard. It was an expression of his confidence.

He went on to rock up at the Royal Albert Hall shows, and it’s since been confirmed that he will also play the rest of Beck’s UK dates.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor stopped to engage with his fans, signing autographs and posing for photographs before security ushered him away.

Depp – who began his career as a musician and founded the band The Hollywood Vampires with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry in 2015 – and Beck have previously collaborated together on the 2020 track “Isolation”.

Depp was absent from the Virgina court on Wednesday (1 June) when the jury announced their decision. The actor was seen leaving The Bridge Tavern pub in Newcastle shortly before the reading of the verdict, according to ITV News.

With the planned collaboration likely to affect Amber Heard’s mental state highly, her own calculated appeal could make the drama more musical, more so, if she looses again.
