John Swinney Sworn In As Scotland’s New First Minister

John Swinney took the oath to become the new First Minister of Scotland, succeeding his predecessor in a pivotal moment for the nation.

Presided over by Scotland’s most senior judge, Lord President Lord Carloway, the ceremony marked the official transition of power as Mr. Swinney assumed his role as the head of government.

Accompanied by his family, including his wife Elizabeth, brother David, and 13-year-old son Matthew, Mr. Swinney solemnly raised his right hand and bowed his head as he made his statutory declarations, assuming the title of First Minister and Keeper of the Scottish Seal.
