Two weeks ago, ads appeared in the local newspaper the Hackney Gazette, with the words “”OUR FRIENDLY TEAM PROMISES YOU SATISFACTION, WHEN YOU SAY GIMME SHELTER WE’LL FIX YOUR SHATTERED WINDOWS.”

A phone number led to a recorded message that said “Welcome to Hackney Diamonds. Specialists in Glass repair. Don’t get angry. Get it fixed. Opening early September, Mare Street, E8.”

The Rolling Stones recently teased a new track, believed to be titled “Don’t Get Angry With Me” or simply “Angry.” The band cleverly set up a website, dontgetangrywithme.com, which intentionally results in an error message when trying to access the song.

Responding humorously to frustrated users on social media, the Stones have playfully messaged, “Sorry, don’t be angry with me…” Some resourceful fans have managed to bypass the “500 Error” page and access a 15-second snippet of the tantalizing track.

“Hackney Diamonds” carries immense significance as the first new Rolling Stones album featuring original music in 18 years. The band’s previous release, “A Bigger Bang” from 2005, soared to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, underlining their enduring popularity. Notably, the “A Bigger Bang Tour” ranks seventh on Billboard’s list of the top 10 tours of all time. This tour, comprising 111 concerts that drew 3.5 million fans, grossed a staggering $558 million, as reported by Billboard Boxscore.

Following “A Bigger Bang,” the rock legends embarked on a different musical journey with 2016’s “Blue & Lonesome,” an all-covers album dedicated to blues classics and deep cuts. Produced by Don Was and The Glimmer Twins, the album featured tracks by legendary blues musicians such as Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter, and Howlin’ Wolf.

However, “Hackney Diamonds” is a particularly poignant release as it follows the sad passing of founding member Charlie Watts in 2021. Watts had played drums on nearly every recorded Stones song since the band’s inception in 1962. Since his untimely departure, the band has continued to perform with the skilled new drummer, Steve Jordan.

The announcement of “Hackney Diamonds” is a testament to the enduring legacy and creative vitality of The Rolling Stones. With fans eagerly awaiting this legendary return to original music, the world will be watching closely as the Stones unveil their latest masterpiece on September 6th in the heart of Hackney, London.
