Hurricane Irma Weakens After Killing 11 And Devastating Cities

By James Simons –

The evil Hurricane that has been ripping its way through American states has weakened, as many airports re-open.  There has been no sign of complete finality.  Atlanta’s Hrtsfield Jackson International has been open for most of Tuesday though there were wide cancellations today.  Atlanta based Delta airport  reported 1,100 cancellations  so far with over 65 flights diverted. Over 140 cancellations are expected on Tuesday . Hurricane Irma has devastated the Southeast of the country. The flooding witnessed in major cities including Jacksonville, Florida, Charleston, South Carolina has shocked many parts of America and left many in despair.  Millions were left without power on Monday and Tuesday by  the devastating force of Irma turned streets into rivers in up to 9 states, destroyed power lines, uprooted  trees and cutting off coastal communities.

Brock Long, the Federal  Emergency Management  Agency Administrator today said that 25% of the houses in Florida keys have been destroyed according to official estimates, and 65% have major damage.  Residents who have fled their homes and heard the full scale of the devastating effect of the Hurricane are eager to return and assess the damage now that the strong hurrican ehas weakened.

Last night, Irma was downgraded from a tropical storm to a tropical depression as the storm lumbered 95 miles south-southwest of Atlanta, Georgia. Houses and buildings have been demolished by fierce hurricane which has proved so destructive in its mission. The disastrous wind is believed to be heading for Alabama then western Tennessee where residents will be advised to flee to another state. Until this monstrous hurricane has finished its course.

Many residents of Texas have been using speed boats to move from one place to another as they come to terms with the frightening and deadly impact of this Hurricane. America has always had its share of horrible and deadly hurricanes, often dubbed an ‘act of God’ symbolising the strangeness of the external source of the destructive and mighty wind that seemingly sets out to cause despair and ruin.

The hurricane is said to be weakening, but the tropical depression is still expected to bring heavy rainfall across a widespread area, as it flooded parts of coastal Georgia and South Carolina, including Savannah and Charleston, on Monday. The Weather Prediction Center warned Tuesday of possible flash flooding and heavy rainfall in parts of North and South Carolina. The Uk by contrast has fluctuated between good weather in many parts with several inches of rain predicted in several parts of the North of England. Strong winds and heavy rain have occurred in many parts of Britain in the last couple of days, but nothing to compare with the painful experience in many parts of America.
