By Tony O’Riley-
Homeless developer, Vince Godwin suffered insomnia and depression over a blunder by Essex Police in the handling of the case of a convicted paedophile.
Mr Godwin, 39, suffered a series of sleepless nights and mental health issues over a longstanding grievance with Essex police in 2018 after they bailed paedophile Stuart Sargent three doors away from where the pervert lived with the mother of mr.Godwin’s daughter in Southend, Essex.
That, added to other personal issues in his life, led to a cycle of depression that took him on a downward spiral.
The experience was raised at a meeting on Thursday by a select team debating plans to lodge a case against the currently unemployed man, giving his limited income. Mr.Godwin, currently on universal credit, a number of years ago signed a contract stipulating £1,000 damages for any liability arising from him breaching his contract with this organisation.
Lawyers say a judge could force him to pay instalmentally from his state benefits.
The dodgy developer abused his access to the eye of media.com by fraudulently pulling the site off google. He did this when he learnt he would be kicked out from all involvement after failing to write weekly articles on the homeless when he lost his accommodation after a row with his landlady.
IT experts say he must have fraudulently saved metatags from the site when he had access to it, in order to be able to direct robots that crawl the site away from google since he had no access to the backend when he eventually committed the offence.
The misfit had also tried to resist calls for him to severe all ties with the eye of media, including removing references to this organisation on his facebook account, and claims to be a journalist. He eventually buckled and complied with the order.
At a meeting to discuss the action against mr.Godwin on Thursday, it was concluded that the bitter experience with Essex police should be considered, because of its potential effects on his mental health. Such a consideration does not in anyway excuse his misconduct.
Livid
Mr Godwin was livid when he discovered that Essex police had bailed Stuart Sargeant- a high grade paedophile, three doors away from a property where he had lived with his wife and three young children under the age of 10. Sargent had been married to the mother of one of Ms Godwin’s children, giving him potential access to the woman and his children, when he was living literally round the corner.
Mr Godwin who believes the paedophile could have possibly made contact with the mother of his children.
Investigation
An investigation was immediately sparked by this organisation. After appearing to evade the facts of the story. Essex police eventually released a report when the matter was escalated to their professional standards in 2018, after trying to evade the issue.
The report was never published on this site due to internal reasons. The fact mr.Godwin himself had not played an active enough role in the life of his child was one consideration raised at the time in not publishing the report. It was also suggested by some members of our thinktank that some of the details in the report might not be publishable because it could infringe data protection laws. Legal opinion sought on the matter was divided.
Mr.Godwin felt Essex police were never properly held to account for the blunder, and that the failure of two media organisations(The Daily Mirror And The Southend Echo) to feature the story despite expressing an interest in doing so, was bad .
Mr Godwin also claimed he was victimised by Essex police after exposing some of their failings with this publication. He once highlighted that they were not efficient in manning CCTV cameras in many town centres including Basildon and Southend.
Also, in the summer of 2019, mr. Godwin was set upon by four thugs in Southend Town Centre, and his phone robbed. When mr Godwin reported the matter to Essex police, mr.Godwin said no action was taken, despite the assault occurring at the heart of the town centre where cameras would have been expected to pick up the offence.
If that wasn’t enough, mr.Godwin was on a separate occasion arrested in the area under a case of mistaken identity, but immediately released.
Mr. Godwin became homeless after a falling out with his landlady, deciding Mr. Godwin instead became heavily involved with seeking out the homeless from the streets, and operating as a volunteer for homeless charities, despite not being officially appointed as one.
