Head teachers have asked parents to take the battle for higher funding to the government.
Gathering at the annual conference of the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL)in Birmingham, heads said many local group of parents opposed to cuts were building at grassroots level.
Parent groups in Essex, Cheshire ,London, Essex and East have written to their respective MPs, to inform them about their plans to stage protests about the cuts to funding for schools. It comes the warning that schools have had to close early for two days in he week to cut costs.
The cuts are said to be hugely impacting the overall education of children, as parents have been been asked to make monthly donations to the school just to make ends meet.
DIFFICULT
UK schools are facing a £3bn cut to schools by 2020, making conditions for quality teaching and education much more difficult, according to headteachers and parents from the group. The impact of the cuts will need to be addressed with the government, the precise reason they have been imposed also needs to be explored.
Whether there are practical alternatives to achieving thense goals previously achieved by past funding , us something to be explored thoroughly, if a justified reason for the cuts is presented.
If those cuts inevitably affect the education of students , then he cuts are a disaster to schools. However, if there is no causal connection between the cuts and the poor performance of children, then focus must still be on raising the standards of school children and effectively monitoring and improving the quality of teachers.
