Manchester United have completed the signing of England defender Harry Maguire from Leicester for £80million, a world record fee for a defender.
The 26-year-old has signed a six-year contract at Old Trafford with the option of a further year at Old Trafford after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
Maguire was previously linked to both Manchester clubs but Leicester held out for their valuation and the fee surpasses the £75million. The move makes Maguire the most expensive defender in history, surpassing Virgil van Dijk, who joined Liverpool for £75m in January 2018.
Maguir made 69 appearances for Leicester after he joined from Hull City in 2017 after he signed a five-year contract at Leicester last September, made 69 Premier League appearances for the club he joined from Hull City in 2017.
