Good Morning Britain (GMB) will air a special episode, live from Westminster Abbey, on Saturday to mark the coronation of King Charles III.
The popular ITV morning show usually only airs Monday to Friday, from 6am to 9am.
But Saturday, May 6, GMB will air a special episode, live from Westminster Abbey as they countdown to the King’s Coronation.
GMB presenter Susanna Reid made the announcement on this morning’s show.
Reid said: “Join us in celebrating the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in a special episode of Good Morning Britain, live from Westminster Abbey.
“We’ll be joined by famous friends, family, courtiers and commentators as the minutes tick down to this historic occasion.”
Full coverage of The Coronation itself will be on BBC One, Two and BBC iPlayer from 7.30am on Saturday, May 6.
According to the UK Government website, the King and Queen Consort’s procession will set off from Buckingham Palace Saturday morning.
They will arrive at Westminster Abbey, with the coronation service set to start at around 11am.
Following the service Charles and Camilla will begin their procession back to Buckingham Palace where they will appear with members of the royal family on the Palace balcony to watch the flypast.
The Coronation is one of the most significant events in the British monarchy, and the preparations for it are underway. Good Morning Britain has been keeping viewers up to date with the latest news and developments regarding the Coronation. The show has also been discussing the historical significance of the event, and what it means for the future of the monarchy.
One of the main questions that has been on everyone’s minds is what will be included in the Coronation ceremony. The traditional Coronation ceremony involves a series of rituals and symbolic gestures that have been performed for centuries. These include the anointing of the monarch with holy oil, the presentation of various regalia, and the crowning of the monarch with the famous St. Edward’s Crown.
However, there have been reports that the new King may choose to deviate from tradition and make some changes to the ceremony.
Good Morning Britain has been discussing the possibility of modernizing the Coronation ceremony to make it more relevant to contemporary audiences. This could include incorporating new technologies or altering some of the traditional rituals to better reflect the values of the modern monarchy.
Another topic that has been discussed on the show is the guest list for the Coronation.
Traditionally, the Coronation has been a grand affair attended by dignitaries, heads of state, and members of the royal family. However, with the ongoing pandemic, it is unclear how many guests will be invited to attend in person. There have been reports that the ceremony may be scaled down and held in a more intimate setting, with a limited number of guests in attendance.
Representatives from the Commonwealth and other countries with close ties to the UK will be invited. There may also be celebrities and other high-profile individuals in attendance, although this has not been confirmed.
Another topic of discussion has been the role of technology in the Coronation ceremony. Good Morning Britain has reported on the possibility of incorporating new technologies, such as virtual reality or holograms, to enhance the viewing experience for audiences around the world. While this would represent a departure from tradition, it could also make the event more accessible to a wider audience.
Coronation broadcast is also expected to be the first in the UK to be enabled by a public 5G Standalone (5G SA) network – the next generation of 5G currently being piloted by Vodafone.
Vodafone and ITN have entered a partnership to create a network slice on Vodafone’s public 5G SA network for the Coronation TV broadcast.
