There is a glimmer of hope for the missing vessel carrying a crew of five, after a Canadian aircraft searching for the sub in the Atlantic Ocean detected intermittent “banging” noises from the vicinity of its last known location.
The crew searching for the missing sub heard banging sounds every 30 minutes on Tuesday, and again four hours later, after additional sonar devices were deployed.
This discovery was shared via internal e-mails sent to the heads of the Department of Homeland Security.
Rear Admiral John Mauger added that there are a lot of metal objects at the site – and this is why it so important to engage navy experts who understand the science behind noise.
Of the intermittent noise deteced by a Canadian aircraft, he said: “It’s a target, it’s a focus for us to look at.”
Mauger ends by saying they will continue to work and bring every resource to bear on the search “as long as there’s an opportunity for survival”.
He said more vessels will be working in the search site, and they will continue to fly in the air above.
On board the missing expeditions’ submersible, Titan are CEO and founder of OceanGate Expeditions Stockton Rush, British billionaire explorer Hamish Harding, renowned French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman Dawood .
The watercraft submerged on Sunday morning from its support vessel to travel to the Titanic wreckage which sits at a depth of 12,500ft. About an hour and 45 minutes later, the Titan lost contact with its mother ship, the Polar Prince, authorities said.
The Titan is equipped with a four-day emergency oxygen supply. It is estimated that the five missing passengers have less 24 hours of oxygen supply left inside the vessel.
The US Coast Guard and Canadian Coast Guard are involved in rescue efforts.
The sinking of the Titanic remains one of the most iconic and haunting events in maritime history. Despite extensive research and investigations, the exact location of the shipwreck had eluded experts for decades.
Armed with cutting-edge equipment and unwavering determination, search teams are on a determined mission to uncover the missing Titanic submarine.
In the midst of their tireless search efforts, the search teams experienced an unexpected and spine-tingling revelation. Experts have hypothesized that these noises could be originating from the missing Titanic submarine, potentially indicating signs of life or structural integrity, which would have remarkable implications for the ongoing search.
The sudden emergence of these banging sounds beneath the depths of the ocean has reignited hope in the hearts of the search teams and the wider public.
Each echo from the deep sea has sparked a renewed sense of urgency and propelled the search forward with renewed vigour. The world watches with bated breath, eager to witness a breakthrough that could provide solace to the families of those who perished.
Although the banging sounds provide hope, they also present challenges for the search teams. The vastness of the ocean, harsh underwater conditions, makes it quite a challenge.
