Tyson Fury looked sharp and slippery in his quick demolition of over matched Tom Schwatz Thomas in under two rounds. The fight which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena was the gypsy man’s second in the U.S where he is building his profile as a potential heavyweight great with plenty of character.
Fury extended his unbeaten record to 28 wins and one draw, the only split decision coming in against Deontey Wilder at the Staple Center in Los Angeles last December. His easy win was a far cry away from the shock loss suffered by his fellow British fighter, Anthony Joshua, stopped in seven brutal rounds in Newyork two weeks earlier by outsider, Andy Ruiz Jnr.
The outgoing big lump has always been criticized for lacking power and delivering boring fights, but Saturday night saw a dominant Fury quickly dismantle his opponent with ease. He remains on track for a big clash down the line with WBC heavyweight champion, Deontey Wilder, who boxes Louis Ortiz in September.
“I came here to put on a show for Las Vegas and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did,” Fury said. “I want to thank everyone for putting on a great show. ESPN was promoting the show every day for four weeks. There was a 2.5-hour documentary on ESPN last night. {Top Rank is} the greatest promotional company in the world.”
