The French government gave the British government an ultimatum on Friday evening to impose a complete lock down on social gatherings, it has been revealed. The ultimatum related to an entry ban on any travellers coming from the Uk in order to limit the spread of the deadly disease.
On Friday evening, prime minister Boris Johnson ordered pubs, restaurants, theatres, cinemas and gyms to close their doors in a desperate attempt to highly restrict the accelerating spread of the disease, days after other European countries put their citizens on lockdown.
French newspaper Liberation, insists that Johnson’s decision came after the French leader gave him an ultimatum on Friday morning, threatening an entry ban on any traveller from the UK if there were no new measures.
“We had to clearly threaten him to make him finally budge,” the report quoted an Elysee official as saying. The announcement by the British government on Friday had cited the guidance of its scientific advisers in taking the drastic action to limit the outbreak. France has been ahead of the Uk in terms of radical steps to combat the outbreak. Restaurants, bars and schools have been shut nationwide and people ordered to stay at home other than to buy groceries, travel to work, exercise or for medical care.
