A former West Yorkshire Police officer faces a gross misconduct hearing this month after he allegedly ‘crashed his patrol vehicle into street furniture at McDonald’s and then lied about it’.
Ex-officer PC Asad Hussain is due to attend the hearing on September 16 when details of that incident will be discussed in addition to two other alleged indiscretions involving PC Hussain.
In the McDonald’s incident, it is alleged PC Hussain caused substantial damage to the vehicle while driving into the street furniture outside McDonald’s shortly before 1am on May 22 last year.
The misconduct hearing is expected to hear that he was aware of the incident and the extent of the damage.
According to West Yorkshire Police, PC Hussain told PS Shah about the vehicle damage later that day when he falsely stated he was unaware of how, when or where the damage had occurred.
It is claimed PC Hussain submitted a police vehicle accident form which misrepresented the facts of the incident, when he claimed the damage happened when the vehicle was left unattended.
It is also alleged that on October 22, 2019, whilst off duty, PC Hussain knowingly drove a motor vehicle with no valid insurance cover in place.
When stopped by PCs Gilroy and Armstrong, it is alleged that PC Hussain falsely asserted he had insurance cover and produced an insurance certificate he knew had been cancelled.
At 10.15am the same day PC Hussain contacted Elephant Insurance and falsely stated he was unaware his insurance had been cancelled, it is claimed.
In the same telephone conversation he was quoted a premium of £3,875.20 to re-insure his vehicle.
At 12.37pm the same day he called Admiral Insurance, purporting to be his father, and secured insurance cover at a premium of £959.47, it is alleged.
On January 20 this year, PC Hussain accepted a conditional caution for fraud by false representation, relating to the insurance cover secured from Admiral Insurance.
On February 25 this year, PC Hussain was convicted for the offences of driving without insurance and driving without an MOT and he was ordered to pay £516 in fines and costs and also received an eight-point endorsement on his driving licence.
The former PC Hussain is due to attend a gross misconduct hearing on September 16.
Earlier today, The Eye Of Media.Com heard that a West Yorkshire Police officer is facing a criminal and gross misconduct investigation by the IOPC by the police watchdog.
The officer will go before the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) over his arrest of a man in Halifax on August 16.
