Foreign Students Call For Help From English students.

By Gavin Mackintosh-

Foreign students need help from English students in University to improve the quality of their English, a P.H.D science student from Kings College University has told the eye of media.com

University is a great experience and opportunity for many Foreign students. It gives them an opportunity to expand their horizon and achieve excellence.
However, many foreign students struggling to improve their English want help from their English classmates.

They say they want their English friends to correct them whenever they make grammatical errors.

OFFEND

English students don’t want to offend their foreign classmates, so usually do not correct them when they make errors.

Truly, some people may be offended if their English were corrected by an English person, but most foreigners say they want to be corrected.

Foreign students at Kings College, London are trying to reverse the trend of silence from their English classmates, which they feel is not deliberate but doesn’t help them.

P.h.d student, Boente Claire , told the eye of media.com :”many students would like to be corrected , but they don’t ask.”

CONVENIENCE

“‘There is a tendency for people to mix with their own people because of convenience. Foreign students need to adapt more, and that will sometimes mean being open about their needs with their English fellow students”.

HIGH STANDARD

Many foreigners studying in Britain successfully came through very high standards of education in their various countries, but struggle to perfect their English.

20-year-old Spanish student, Miranda Ramirez , told the eye of media.com ” I enjoy studying at Kings College University, it is a very good University.

NICE

“I have met many nice people here. I just wish I could speak like the English people and wish my English friends will tell me whenever I make a mistake. I know they don’t want to offend us, but we would actually appreciate it.”

Miranda’s view is one of the several foreign students who feel this way. The problem is that these type of things are rarely openly discussed, but that’s changing among foreign students at top-rated Kings College University.

Some foreign students here have been discussing it, and hope to establish a set up that encourages a great level of co-operation from English students.
