Schools and colleges in the Uk have been shut out from submitting teacher grades, just a day before the deadline, after an exam board’s submission portal crashed today.
OCR realized at lunchtime today that schools and colleges were unable to submit results to its grade submission system after its system went down unexpectedly on what was the final day for submission.
OCR a leading UK awarding body which provides qualifications and engages people of all ages and abilities at school, college, in work or through part-time learning programs, apologized for the issue which they said has now been half resolved. Full resolution is expected by 7pm, but all schools have been given a 24 hour extension.
Schools across the Uk have had weeks to submit recommended grades for G.C.S.E and A level students, but the final day of any deadline is generally seen as a crucial day not to be overlooked.
Due to the effects of the pandemic, students this year have been saved the extra task of preparing for exams, but also face the fallible process of awarded grades based on teacher assessment
Insiders at the OCR told The Eye Of Media.Com that all the data for the central administrator as being added on, and that schools still have until midnight tomorrow to hand in their final grades for various pupils.
A spokesperson had earlier in the day said “urgent action” was being taken to resolve the problem, which they said it “may take the rest of the day” to resolve.
The spokesperson added: “We would like to apologize to our schools and colleges for the inconvenience this is causing at such a busy time.”
Teachers had taken to Twitter this morning to complain about the crash, after they were unable to access the AQA grades portal. AQA said it had “systems” issues, but tweeted that the portal for submitting grades was not affected.
AQA said the issue was caused by “a problem at an internet service provider that affected systems around the world”.
