Essex Woman Whose Report Of Rape Led To Her Eviction

By James Simons-

An essex woman and her children have been kicked out of her home after reporting her husband to police for raping her many years ago.

Christina Polley was kicked out of her home in prospect close by Estuary Housing, after she reported her husband, Eddie Williams for raping her in the past. Williams subsequently moved out of the family house whilst on bail conditions, and stopped paying the rent. He was subsequently acquitted because of insufficient evidence, but refused to return to the family house in Southend On Sea, or pay the rent for the house. Williams and Polley were both jailed for 8 weeks in 2015, after their children failed to go to school for a one year period. Their jail sentence was covered in many of the national papers to articles about this covered in the Mirror etc. The pair have had a tumultuous relationship that has affected their four girls in many ways, making them a problem at school and at home.

Despite both parents being jailed, one after the other, one of Polley’s teenagers continued to stay away from school, with the youngest daughter of 12 years of age initially attending school regularly, only to later begin to miss weeks of school at a time because of internal family issues. Their other child of 16, Shannon Polley, once accused her father of domestic violence against her

The eye of media.com spent four days contemplating the publication of this story because of the children who are on child protection, but concluded yesterday that it was in the public interest to tell this story, and there are no provisions under the press codes of conduct that makes reference to misconduct arising form identifying parents in this kind of matter. Furthermore, neither the mother nor her children take objection to an article exposing the wrong judgement of Estuary Housing in evicting them, nor are they bothered for the world to know that their father was accused by their mother of rape. The story of the Polley’s has been an ongoing movie, with the younger two children taken into care by social services, who failed to adequately address and remedy the problem in the Polley family.

DOSSIER
A brief dossier by the eye of media.com on the ineffectiveness of social services in handling the complex issues of the Polley family is in the process of being drawn up by the eye of media.com and sent to both Social Services and Estuary Housing , as well as the Health And Care Professional Council (HCPC). The dossier will include an outline and assessment of how both Estuary Housing and Social Services failed the Polley family, and contain recommendations for similar situations in future. It is being prepared in conjunction with two Social Work Managers from different boroughs who will be privy to all the details of the case. The report will eventually be published on this site.

DEADLINE
Polley and her children eventually moved out on the 9th of July, after being given a deadline of the 10th to evacuate the property because the rent and bills had not been paid. The eye of media.com contacted Jenny Mansell- the case worker from Estuary Housing in Southend On Sea handling the eviction notice, but she declined to comment about the family situation to a third party. Mansell told the eye of media.com that even if Polley consented to them discussing the case, they could not discuss it because Williams is the tenant of the property.
The decision is appalling because Ms Polley has been the victim of unfair treatment, suffering only really because she reported Mr.Williams for rape. There is no reason the tenancy could not have been transferred to the mother of the children, especially as Mr.Williams would never have been awarded benefits payment for the property if he didn’t have a family with four children.

UNPROFESSIONALISM

The decision appears to highlight a degree of unprofessionalism or lack of expertise on the part of Estuary Housing in addressing matters of this nature in the most fitting way. When the eye of media.com approached mr. Williams about the rape allegation, he denied it, but also refused our offer of a lie detector test after hearing detailed incidences by Ms Polley in the presence of Mr.Williams and their children in which she alleges to have been raped by him. Lie detectors are no admissible in court because they are not 100% reliable, but their 99% level of accuracy means they can be used at an investigative stage to form opinions about a case or person.

Ms Polley told the eye of media.com ” I am very disappointed in their decision to kick us out. The process of moving was stressful for the children , they have now moved us to a hostel”. Although Mr.Williams was eventually acquitted of the rape allegation, the eye of media.com felt it necessary to publish the story following the eviction, and other covert investigations we have been conducting on this irresponsible father whose weight of positive influence on his children has been next to none existent. Social workers handling the family case of the Polley’s told the eye of media.com that the parents in this case were ”bad parents” who lacked the skills and ability to raise their children properly. Their judgment is not wrong, but social services seemed to lack the tools to handle the situation of bad parenting , leading to two of her young children being put on care, and the other two along with the mother being evicted.

Ms Polley said of her estranged husband: ” he doesn’t look after the children at all. He is a wrongon(misfit) and lucky not to be in jail”. Mr.Williams has in past times been known to give his children pocket money, at the expense sometimes of gas or toiletries in the house.
