Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Set to Embark on Nigeria Visit Following Invictus Games Commemoration

The trip in May comes on the heels of the Duke’s scheduled visit to London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, an event close to his heart.

Meghan Markle apparently has Nigerian ancestry, after revealing in one episode of her podcast Archetypes,  that she discovered through a geneology test that she is 43% Nigerian.

The podcast featured a guest appearance by Nigerian-American actor Ziwe. At the time, the former “Suits” star mentioned that she took the test a couple of years ago and was unaware of this heritage until later, leading her to explore her Nigerian roots further.

During their time in Nigeria, the Sussexes will engage with military personnel and participate in various activities associated with the Invictus Games, amplifying the global reach and impact of the event.

Nigeria’s defense ministry welcomed the announcement, expressing its “honour and delight” at the prospect of hosting the royal couple.

Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, in a statement released on Sunday, affirmed that the visit would not only strengthen Nigeria’s ties to the Invictus Games but also potentially lay the groundwork for future editions to be hosted in the country.

Photographer and close friend of the couple, Misan Harriman, hailed the news with an enthusiastic post on social media, sparking speculation about his potential involvement in the trip alongside the Sussexes.

However, reports suggest that no senior members of the Royal Family is expected to accompany Prince Harry for this particular event, signifying a departure from traditional royal protocol.
