Teenager from Essex Accuses Father of Domestic Violence Against  Mother

By James Simons-

An Essex teenager confronted her father and accused him of domestic violence against her and her mother.

16-year-old teenager Shannon Pollie confronted dad Eddie Williams, 53, in the presence of the eye of media.com, during a routine visit to their troubled home in Southend Essex.

Eddie Williams, and the mother of Shannon- Christina Pollie, were both jailed for 8 weeks in September, after their three children failed to attend their school, Cecil Jones, for a whole year. The parents claimed the children were defiant and simply refused to attend school.

THE POLLIE FAMILY

However, visits and contacts with the Pollie family revealed a dysfunctional family with a set of complex problems. The level of domestic violence in this family is disturbing. During one of our visits on Friday evening, 16-year-old Christina Pollie complained bitterly to the eye of media.com that her father hits her regularly, and hits her .

She confronted her father after an episode of teenage tantrum throwing and expletives directed at one of her sisters for having a chat with her boyfriend. Shannon went berzerk over the conversation but suddenly blamed her father for the rage that exists in her. She described incidences of domestic violence in the family. Her father frequently hits her and her mother, she said.

Confronting Eddie Williams in the present of the eye of media.com, teenager Shannon Pollie accused Eddie Williams of attacking her mother repeatedly over the years in the presence of the children. She went further to accusing Williams, who shares a different surname to his 4 biological children, of hitting her whenever she annoys him or is loud in the house.

Standing directly opposite her father, she said : ”you have fxxxxx my head up. All these years you hit mummy in front of me, and hit me is the reason I am like this. You are  scum bag”, she said. Would you believe I am actually scared of my dad, she said. He has punched mum in front of us many times, and also throws stuff on her”, she complained.

Eddie Williams told the eye of media.com that his daughter was making up the allegation, and that this was untrue. ”You are a liar, Shannon told her father, looking at him contemptuously. ”You should just go and die”, she said

Christina Pollie insisted her teenage daughter was telling the truth. One of her sisters corroborated Shannon’s story, with the youngest claiming that her mother sometimes provokes her father by saying hurtful words to him in their presence. She also told the eye of media.com that her mum sometimes initiates the violence.

The eye of media.com firmly told Eddie Williams to desist from violent behaviour towards the mother of the children and the children themselves. Part of the complex problem here is that the children show high levels of rebellion and indiscipline that warrants a firm hand.

They call their parents the sort of names only disrespectful children would do. We advised the children to also refrain to addressing their parents so disrespectfully, telling them this was poor development that should stop.

LEADERSHIP

There seems to be no authority or leadership in this family, with conflict and confrontation part of their daily lifestyle. They are known to the local police and patrolling security, and social services. However, the four girls sometimes are sometimes very warm and friendly, joking and relaxing at home. But once things go wild, there is no voice to stop or control their angry fits.

Right before the eye of media.com, we witnessed two raging arguments during a one hour period. We have probed their conflicts, and observed the role they all play in the grand scheme of things. The eye of media.com has instructed both parents to completely refrain from confronting each other in the presence of the children. They call each other  horrible names in the presence of their teenage children, in the process contributing to a hostile atmosphere at home.

SCHOOL

The environment in this family is not one in which the children are likely to do well in school, and the two teenager’s currently in Cecil jones school do not claim to do any homework at school. However, authorities from Cecil Jones school have expressed satisfaction with the youngest daughter’s attendance in school this term, whilst the 14-year-old girl in the Pollie family continues to get sent home from school for refusing to wear the prescribed school uniform.
