ESSEX CCTV VEHICLE PARKED WRONGLY IN DAY TIME

BY ERIC KING

A picture of a CCTV vehicle wrongly parked has been circulated on facebook, making mockery of the council operating the CCTV. The vehicle parked in Southend last weekend has been circulating on facebook as belonging to Southend Council, but inquiries made by eye of media has revealed this to be false and mistaken. It was allegedly parked just after 4pm last week Friday but Southend Council has vehemently denied it is their vehicle .

A statement from Southend council read’ this is not our CCTV vehicle. Our contractor APCOA have confirmed that this is not their vehicle too by looking at the number plate. Our two CCTV cars have different plates.

It is somewhat laughable that a vehicle that operates CCTV in catching criminals and those who infringe the law would themselves be found infringing the law, albeit inadvertently. The individual who put up the post told his audience he had waited up to 20mins for the driver of the vehicle, but nobody turned up. Most interesting would be whether this vehicle received a ticket because that would be so ironic. There has been suggestion that the car may belong to Southend Essex partnership, but efforts to contact them for a response has so far proved fruitless.

It is sufficient to say that the least one expects from public organisations that police the law is for they themselves to keep the law. Although we are unable to defintively ascertain who was responsible for this parking transgression, we will continue to make inquiries until we get to the bottom of it.
